Twins
You were bonded together in the
Heavens before you came to earth.
You heard each others heart begin to
Beat and you shared your day of birth.
If one of you began to cry the other
Joined in. To show how much they cared.
You began learning about your differences
and about interests that you shared.
You have doubled a mother's love in so
Many ways and in all the things you do.
I am truly grateful to have received such
A special gift. For I was blessed with two.
Some days seem endless,
My patience grows thin.
Why was I chosen to be
A mother of twins?
The answer comes clear
At the end of the day...
As I tuck them in bed
To myself I say,
There's two to kiss...
There's two to hug...
And best of all
There's two to love.

Multiplyblessedmoms tips...
***When a temper tantrum is erupting from your child I try to remember to try whispering and that helps to surprise them into quiet
*** Just because your neighbors kids were potty
trained at 22 mo your NOT a failure if your twins potty training
is still a work in progress.currently. (it seems like we've been working
on it forever, V. showed interest a little over 2 years old, we're
still working at it at 3.8 y.o. The thing I learned from having 6 kids
is they will eventually learn to use the toilet and when they graduate
from high school the age they toilet trained doesn't matter any more.
*** Sometimes taking a long drive until they fall asleep in their seats is a successful sanity saver!! :)

Notes... I always "TRY" to get them mailed out,
I've started with the twins working on them coloring pics for everyone
that got them presents. though its not a formal 'thank you for the..."
its a start.
I have to say I've been far from perfect in the thank you note area but
am trying to do better.
*** Bedrest during
pregnancy..I was lucky though my youngest at home at the time was
11 yrs old. I couldnt imagine having to do it with a toddler. there
are some great books I read when I was on bedrest on 'how to survive bedrest'.
I got some survival tips that helped me. but again I didnt have a toddler.
But they might have alot of helpful ideas in dealing with your son. I
ordered them used from Amazon.com.
I went on full bedrest at 10-12 weeks for unexplained bleeding, was able to then go to modified bedrest as long as there was no more bleeding or any other complications (which thankfully there werent!) Back to full bedrest to prevent preterm delivery. My twins were Born 36 1/2 wks at 4 lb 12 oz each and able to stay in the regular nursery instead of the NICU.
*** Diapers*** I just read in one of the parenting magazines about the dyes in name brand diapers causing rash. I found that there must be a difference in some generics other than the lack of dye as my kiddos got a rash from generic brand from some stores but not from all generics or not from all name brand
***Diaper Bags***we were given two diaper bags from the hosp so at first I used one for each, then I tried a bigger bag I ended up with an LL Bean traveler bag in the long run and now have passed that on to DD#1 to save for her impending arrival and gone to my LL Bean messenger bag. I often packed a bigger general bag and keep it in the car, restocking it regularly and keeping a smaller bag for taking into places with me. there IS one company I saw that made a duo bag, it was two bags zipped together intended for one infant and one toddler and wanted to try that but was too cheap to buy it.
***BARF*** I had to get used to it. But DH does a much better job handling the cleanup than I do :)BEWARE if you have a dog several of us Mults moms have discovered the dogs desires for vomit and feces if he can get to it before you clean it up YUCK!We get too grossed out by the dog eating it so we take turns keeping the kids and dog out of the way while the other one does some clean up.
One on One Time~ Individuality is important, Make sure you take time for YOU to stay sane so that you can give one on one time to your kids. Mommy has to be taken care of in order to be able to take care of the kids, Just like on an airline you have to put on your own oxygen mask first!!
***MOST IMPORTANT TIP my best advice is experiment until you find what works best for you.
******DESTRUCTION~STORIES******
As a member of a message board for moms of mults I"ve learned that we all have some destruction stories.. here are a few from my memories..
.Well
Im sure there are worse things that I've blocked from my memory, but they
have destroyed board books, thrown some shatterproof dishes and shattered
them, but the worst I remember is
I was going potty they were sitting at the kitchen table playing wtih
those hit clip mustic players and I heard them pushing microwave buttons,
doubted they could start it, then I heard it start and ran out to a smoking
kitchen, they had put the hit clip players and music chips in the micro
and turned it on in what seemed like seconds.
they know iknow they cant play with appliances because it might start
fire and we've put a refirgerator lock on our microwave
I also dont dare go potty unless they are sleeping or someoen else is
here to watch them while I go now.we
are finally able to start reading a few books that arent board books without
damaging them.
I was a single mom of 4 and the youngest were 1 and 3 and the oldest was old enough to help me cook and I left her stirring batter while I had to go move my car out of the plow trucks way in the driveway and came back in to find
eggs and flour not only all oveer the kitchen but in the lving room and all over the yougest two. What a mess. when we tell it now we say that they were mad I wouldnt let them out in the snow so they decided to make it snow inside.
some odd facts..
when I was a child my favorite dolls and stuffed toys were the ones that were b/g sets of two I frequently played mommy to a set of twins. As I had children I never thought I could or would have twins. It never occured to me and I never gave it any thought.
My favorite school library book growing up the quints book about the Dionne Quintuplets
when I first got the internet in the 90's about the time the movie TITANIC came out I became obsessed with researching the Titanic and Dionne quints soon followed when I remembered that favorite kids book. I then started collecting items to do with the Dionne Quints.
2002 found out I was pregnant with b/g twins.... and have since been selling off my collection of memoribilia of the quints to make more room for my double blessings to play.

-- There were more quintuplets born between 1990 and 1994 than during all the 1980s.
-- As of December 1997, there have been 51 sets of surviving quintuplets in the United States.
-- There have been only two setsof spontaneous quintuplets -- achieved without fertility drugs -- born in the United States.
-- The most crucial time during the pregnancy is between 19 and 23 weeks.
-- There were 16 quintuplets born in the United States in 1997. Of these, only three had no survivors.
-- In 1996, there were 100,750 babies born as twins, 5,298 as triplets, 560 as quadruplets and 81 as quintuplets or other higher-order multiple births.
-- If the mother can carry the quintuplets to 28 weeks or beyond, there is a90 percent or better chance that all the babies will survive.
-- Average hospital stay for each baby: 10 weeks.

the Quints lived behind high fences, surrounded by policemen and guards, was
a virtual concentration camp; but visitors always remembered it as something
wonderful!"
Born May 28th 193_with five older siblings aged 11 mo to years.
Dionne quintuplets were born in Canada on May 28, 1934. The publicity about
their birth and their special status as wards of the Canadian government made
them famous throughout the world. Visitors could watch the girls play; reporters
interviewed the girls and the staff. Thousands of special dolls and souvenirs
were made picturing the quints at different ages. Emilie died in 1954, Marie
in 1970, Yvonne in 2001. Annette and Cecile still live in Canada.
